How it works:

Using found materials (yours or mine), we cast shadows onto paper or skin to build the basis of a composition. The tattoo itself results from a long process of playful experimentation. In the process, we develop intimacy with the material and its infinite shadow forms, distilling one snapshot or synthesizing a few. Though the material you bring in need not have strong personal significance, some closeness with it or curiosity about it is encouraged. Every session is different and tailored specific needs and desires of the client.

Shadow play requires trust in the unfolding of a collaborative ritual. As we dialogue with the material and its shadows, we inevitably dialogue with your own intuition, uncertainty, hesitation, and desire. These states are folded into the process of creating the image, rather than considered interruptions or delays to a design process.

This tattoo offering is available for anybody who is interested in working collaboratively, experimentally, and with trust in the material to lead the way.
